Stuck in the LinkedIn Loop?
As a recruiter, you’ll be regularly sending LinkedIn connection requests to prospective clients and candidates.
You press the send button, later that day an email hits your inbox announcing you have a new connection. So, you send your follow up message, and still, there’s no response.
Then you try emailing and calling, but you’re just not getting a foot in the door. All you’re getting in return is absolute radio silence. It’s disheartening, frustrating and puzzling.
Why connect if you’re not looking to move the conversation forward?
Eye to Eye
You will, no doubt, have done the same to some of the people who’ve asked you to connect too. Let’s face it; it’s easy to ignore the text on a screen.
We’ve become immune to other people’s pull for our time unless there’s something they’ve got that we want.
It’s much harder to ignore someone or say no to someone when you’re eyeball to eyeball with them. It’s even more difficult for your prospective candidates and clients to ignore when the conversation is all about them.
Using LinkedIn for Video Intros
It’s time for you to get to grips with the LinkedIn video for private messages feature.
Imagine you’re in a lift with your prospect. You’ve got 60 seconds to tell them why they should have a call/meeting with you. What are you going to say? Keep in mind this will need tweaking for each prospective client and candidate.
What are you going to say?
Got your message ready? Great. Now it’s time to make sure you’ve got the LinkedIn App downloaded to your phone.
Once you’ve done that and logged into your account, you’re ready to record your message.
Click on the messaging icon and select the person you’re looking to engage.
Add a brief, written message. For example:
I’m sending you a quick video to introduce myself
Lights, Camera, Action
Now hit the + to the right hand side of your message and select video. Reverse the camera view, so you can see yourself on the screen and hit the red record button at the bottom of the screen.
Play it back once you’ve finished. If you want to start your video again, hit the cross in the top left of the screen. If you are happy, hit the blue arrow in the bottom right of the screen.
